I loved you, so I drew these tides of men and wrote my will across the sky in stars.

Long time, no see

So it's been awhile since my last post.... college has been SO time consuming! I love UT though. It has honestly been the best two months of my life. Austin feels so much like home already, everything about it makes me feel happy that I live here. The people are friendly and inspiring, the city is so full of life, and UT has been a dream so far. Of course, college has been difficult (Don't take 2 Anthropology classes at the same time!), but it has been so rewarding at the same time! All of my classes are so interesting! Anyways, hoping everyone is having a good start to fall!

Ipod Challenge

So I decided to take on the ipod challenge. To be more specific, you put your music on shuffle and write down the first twenty songs. NO skipping! That would be cheating. It's supposed give and insight into who you are..... here's mine.
1. Brave - Tawgs Salter
2. Freeze - T Pain
3. U.N.I. - Ed Sheeran
4. The Celestials - Smashing Pumpkins
5. Brothers - Tanlines
6. Small Bump - Ed Sheeran
7. Hero/Heroine - Boys Like Girls
8. For the First Time - The Script
9. Zero - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
10. Mama Who Bore Me - Spring Awakening
11. Quasar - Smashing Pumpkins
12. Take Care - Drake
13. The Virginia Company - Pocahontas
14. Big Spender - Peggy Lee
15. Plains - Wye Oak
16. I Belong to You - Muse
17. Dreaming With a Broken Heart - John Mayer
18. Stay Young - We The Kings
19. Without You - Christina Aguilera
20. Life on Earth - Band of Horses

Honestly, some of these I didn't even remember I had. And I wish they hadn't chosen songs by the same artist, because I have over 1,300 songs on my phone! This shuffle kind of sucks.... haha anyways take it as you will.

So so sun burnt

Just got back from a day trip in Galveston! The weather was great, the people were great and I had a GREAT time! Haha. The skin on my face is the only one protesting. Thank god for aloe vera! Anyways, tried a new Blue Bell ice cream flavor... Southern Blackberry Cobbler. It was insanely delicious. Probably my new favorite ice cream. Summer has been awesome!

KATY PERRY

Just saw her concert/movie at the theater. WOW. It makes me respect her as an artist and a person that much more. Love her music! It was so inspiring and such a positive message to send out to her fans. She is a dedicated and hard worker and I applaud her and her music. It also makes me want to crazy dress up like her and go to one of her concerts!! I love her fashion and funness! haha

Beignets

My love. My life. A sweet sugary deep fried donut. Heaven. Cafe du Monde fills the soul with goodness! And the coffee was pretty great too.

Getting back into the hang of things

Things have been pretty mellow these past couple of days. Just trying to get a little R&R and hang low for a while. I recently discovered that my public library allows you to use ancestry.com and heritage.com for free, and they also have an entire department dedicated to genealogy! I'll probably be holed away for a while searching up my family tree! Yep, so that's been my life... nothing really exciting. Oh, I did discover this awesome blog! It describes most of my childhood, check it out! Forever 90's.

Packing!

I'm sitting in my room, on the computer and watching Tangled simultaneously, managing to procrastinate packing. It's not that I don't want to go on a trip! I LOVE trips! And me and my friend (Lindsey) are going to New Orleans with her family! And I LOVVVVVE New Orleans! Can you say Cafe du Monde? Beignets? I can just see the ten pounds I'm going to gain over the weeked! Gah. Anyways. I just really hate packing. I never know what to take, and I always end up bringing either too much or too little. Most of the time waaay to much stuff. But it should be fun. Even though New Orleans has a solid 50% chance of rain the entire time we are going to be there. But ohwell! It will be awesome in the rain! There's an amazing old bookstore that I really want to go see again and also Peaches record store! If you've never been, I completely recommend it! Anyways, have a good weekend, I probably wont be posting for a couple of days!

Rainy Days

So it seems like the entire heavens are pouring down on my small town today so it's time for a little R&R! Me and my sister are having a little television/movie marathon right now, complete with some coffee for me (Thank god for Espresso!). Right now we're on Pretty Little Liars! Anyways, no day without a little DIY or reading is really complete for me, so I'm trying out a new hair treatment. Coconut milk! I just opened up a can and dumped it on my hair, then proceeded to quickly wrap it in a towel. It smelled a little strange... there was definitely a hint of coconut, but it also smelled musty and old. Perhaps a bad can? Haha I don't know. Hopefully my hair is super shiny and soft after my shower! Also, any thoughts on a good shampoo for oily hair with a tendency for split ends?

Rolling Up My Bartending Sleeves

Okay. I have kind of an obsession with trying out new recipes. It can be a curse seeing as most of them usually involve rather expensive ingredients. However, I did discover an awesome new drink recipe! It's called a Whiskey Ginger, and it was delicious. I got the recipe from A Beautiful Mess. You can find the link to the main site up in my Sites to check out as well. Anyways... it was amazing!! If any of you have ever had a mint julep, it was like that, only with ginger. The only difference I made from the original recipe was adding quite a bit more of the ginger syrup. I like things extra sweet/gingery.

Newness of My Life

Gah! A new blog! I'm so excited about this one and hopefully I'll be able to keep more up to date with it. So I am currently trying to read all the novels listed on Modern Library's 100 Best Novels. http://www.modernlibrary.com/top-100/100-best-novels/ - If you want to check it out.
It's not going too well... haha. Right now I'm reading Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt Vonnegut. It's pretty funny and pretty short which is also a good thing, because I'm kind of swamped right now with college starting and planning my Mamaw and Papaw's 50th Anniversary. I am doing this because it seems that no one in my family has any decorating skills whatsoever. I'm so proud that I even have a pinterest board dedicated to it! haha. Anyways, back to reading for me!
